2010 MARGAN FRIZZANTE
A new style from Andrew Margan, it’s slightly fizzy with a lovely balance between sweetness and acid. The wine displays a bouquet of fresh lemon and lime with a balance of sweet fruit and citrus acid. Enjoy now as a young, slightly fizzy, lower alcohol style.
2009 THOMAS ‘TWO OF A KIND’ SEMILLON / SAUVIGNON BLANC
Andrew Thomas is originally an Adelaide boy but has lived in the Hunter for over 20 years; this wine represents a blend of his past and present. Hunter Valley Semillon (59%) and Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc (41%). The Hunter Semillon provides the purity and backbone while the Sauvignon Blanc adds tropical fruit richness.
2009 LITTLE WINE CO. VIOGNIER
Viognier (pronounced ‘vee-on-yay’) provides a fabulous alternative to Chardonnay with its magical ability to be rich and delicate at the same time. This wine has beautiful zesty fruit flavours with the classic varietal characters of ginger and honeysuckle. Just a hint of oak makes this a deliciously drinkable wine.
2009 TOWER ESTATE SEMILLON
Established in 1999 by the late Len Evans OBE, Tower Estate has a reputation for uncompromising quality. This wine is straw in colour with green hues, and has aromas of limes and lemon sherbet. The palate has great fruit intensity and a refreshing acid finish. This is a great wine from an outstanding year and could quite confidently be cellared well into the next decade.
2009 DE IULIIS SHOW RESERVE VERDELHO
The name is a little daunting but just say ‘de-uli-iss’ !
Mike De Iuliis never misses with Verdelho but 2009 was also a great year for this variety. This wine is tropical with lifted passionfruit and pineapple. The palate is fresh with crisp acid and lifted tropical fruit flavours. Produced in an outstanding year this is an excellent example of pure Hunter Verdelho.
2009 DAVID HOOK PINOT GRIGIO
Pinot Grigio is the Italian name for the French variety Pinot Gris. The word grigio means grey in Italian but the colour varies depending on climatic conditions during the growing season. The 2009 is a lovely bright yellow; it has a sweet aroma of melon and tangerines with a touch of spice and flint. The flavour is distinctive, complex, crisp and lively.
